Card Art

Several years ago, I took some pen-and-ink drawings from my overflowing sketchbooks and transferred them (via copier or printer) to art paper. I found that I could paint my favorite scenes over and over, using the same sketches. What's more, I could vary the size, and paint in a different format each time--a winter or summer scene, a stormy night or a sunny day --all using the same sketch. The idea fascinated me.

As technology advanced, giclee reproductions came along, using computer generated pixels to replicate an original watercolor with clarity and color authenticity that made it almost indistinguishable from the original. It became an effective and economical way to reproduce original artwork.
